GM Wint

The images in this post are very basic. Sadly I have lost the saves of all the previous templates I had, so this will have to do I'm afraid. I'll get it sorted out soon!

Hello, everybody! It's been a while, and I apologise for being away for so long, but recently my personal life has been turned upside-down so I think the absence can be excused. As I've been away for some while, I thought I'd come back with a few question and answer rounds, things I've been asked recently by a few people.

Please, also, if you have any questions or want to suggest some topics you'd like me to discuss here feel free to drop me an E-Mail. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , or drop me a PM on @gm_wint on Twitter, and I'll try to answer them either directly or in a post at a later date! Thank you for reading, and I hope you enjoy the show!

Is there a GM Island? If so, what's it like there?
The quickest answer to this is "Yes". There is a GM Island located in the old lands of Azeroth, far to the north of the map, and even further north than Northrend. So far, in fact, that if you open up the World Map you cannot even point to GM Island on the screen.

As for what it looks like; take Dustwallow Marsh and condense it onto a small island, place one of those small Alliance towers in the centre, and hey presto you have GM Island. You will not be able to get there, and even if by some miracle you do, there is nothing there to see. We use this island as a spawn place for our characters, but we're constantly marked as invisible to you guys so you can't see us, therefore it's a boring and empty island.

What's the best ticket you've ever had?
There are actually two, but for the very same reason as each other. I could not write a whole article about them individually but they're great nonetheless, and I could not help but smile at them even to this day.

The first was a level 64 Warrior who was running some Ramparts, as this was during Burning Crusade, who was complaining about his group abusing him and telling him he couldn't play the game and that he was a 'noob', which upset the poor fellow tremendously. It later transpired that this was due to his tanking ability, and his lack of the skill "Defensive Stance". I had to giggle, but explained to him that this was a core skill of the Warrior and is obtained from a level 10 quest.

The second was, and this is the absolute truth, a level 70 Priest (again during The Burning Crusade) who wrote:
"How do I use my wand? I click it and nothing happens."

I never thought I'd get tickets like these, ever.

"How do I use my wand? I click it and nothing happens."

What class do you play?
A person in my position – that is, a gamer and a WoW GM – has a fair knowledge of most classes, and many of us have spent time playing nigh every class. My most played classes are Warrior and Rogue, though I do love the Shaman. If I had to pick a favourite one, I'd say Shaman. My current main is a Warrior.

What is the meaning of life?
A GM's favourite question, and there is a single answer that is not always given for the sake of keeping things 'fresh'. The meaning of life is... 42.

How many macros do you have?
Well, this is awkward. My true GM name was put on the forums a long, long time ago – though it's no longer there, unfortunately – as a GM who does not use macros. I was flattered but this is not true as I use a lot of them to get through my day. It's a necessity for us to use macros especially for dealing with the same issues throughout the day; however, I have spent a lot of time working on my macros and crafting them very carefully so that they flow together without seeming to lack personality. There's a lot that I type by hand, but for the common things that require a standard reply I use macros. If requested by many, an article about this will be posted at a later date in more detail. :)

That's about all I have space for right now, but be sure to check out my blog which I promise to update more regularly, or follow me on Twitter. Contact details below.
